How We Help
The Foundation
In our introductory independent school workshops,we have parents examine
their current plan for educating their children. We have parents evaluate
if they are on track with the personal educational goals for their
child. We discuss the expectations that independent schools are expecting
of parents as well as students. This gives parents the opportunity to
evaluate if applying to an independent school will be the right fit for
their family.
Guidance
Families are supplied with time-lines and action steps. We feel that with
factual information and a plan of action, parents can navigate the
admissions process confidently on their own.
Dialogue
Operation Headstart addresses parents concerns that websites and brochures
don’t answer. Many families are not familiar with an independent school
environment, and may express concerns about the culture at these schools.
Through our parent panels discussions, we create a safe space where an
open, honest dialogue can be created. We discuss topics that center around
racial, social and economic diversity at independent schools.
Provide
Operation Headstart believes that there is not one source to receive
information on independent schools. We provide families with information
on several other organizations and networks who can assist and support
families with their independent school needs. The goal is to acquire as
much information from many sources so that you will be able to make an
informed decision. As parents, you are the ultimate authority on the
philosophy and the academic environment that you wish for your child to
experience.
